Apple iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus announced

Apple had the iPhone launch event yesterday where it updated both the regular iPhone lineup and Pro lineup.  While the new iPhones look similar to last year's iPhone , there are indeed a lot of changes under the hood.  

 

Design

 

The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus feature durable design, including water and dust resistance, and the latest Ceramic Shield for added protection. The internal design prioritizes battery life and heat dissipation, while the Super Retina XDR display offers a high-quality viewing experience. The 16 features a 6.1 inch display while the 16 Plus features a 6.7 inch display. 

 

Cameras

 

The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus feature enhanced camera systems designed to capture photos and videos with greater detail and versatility. The 48MP Fusion camera offers a 2x optical zoom, allowing users to get closer to their subjects. The 12MP Ultra Wide camera supports macro photography and captures more light for improved image quality. Additionally, both models can capture spatial photos and videos, compatible with Apple Vision Pro. There is a also new physical button with haptics to control the camera settings and shutter. 

 

A18 chip

 

The heart of the new iPhone 16 is the new A18 chip which is designed for Apple Intelligence from scratch. The new A18 chip delivers a huge leap in performance and efficiency, enabling demanding AAA games, as well as a big boost in battery life.

 

Apple Intelligence

 

Apple Intelligence is Apple's AI push and will start rolling out in US english this year with more languages next year. With this new feature the iPhone 16 models offer a more intuitive and efficient user experience by understanding and responding to language, performing actions across apps, and drawing on personal data to simplify everyday activities. 

 

There is integration with Google search for Visual Intelligence and ChatGPT as well. 

 

The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus will come in five colors: black, white, pink, teal, and ultramarine. Pre-orders start September 13, with availability on September 20..
