Just a quick update for everyone asking me in this thread and in DM's for me to give you a verified badge: That's not going to happen . The whole point of this feature is that you will be able to verify yourself through a secure process that verifies your identity. If i would hand out verified badges to everyone asking i would be undermining the trust that our users have in the badge. 

 

So in short: If you want the badge you have to join the beta program, and once you updated to the latest beta version of the app you will see the verification button, just click on it and you will be verified in no time. Easy peasy lemon squeezy .

There has been a lot of good questions here in the thread and on DM's so we have summarised the most common ones in to a FAQ. 1. What is changing in the verified names badge process?

Starting September 2024, we are updating the verified names badge process in India to rely on verification using UPI or DigiLocker. Users can initiate verification by matching their phone number with UPI or DigiLocker to retrieve the name as per their official record(s). This will ensure the name of a user with a verified badge can be trusted. 
 

2. Is this feature available in all regions?
No, this feature is currently available only in India. But our goal is to provide the same service globally, and we’ll be providing more updates for other regions soon. 

3. Is this feature available for all devices?

This feature is being rolled out on Android first. Support for iOS will be added later.

4. What are the requirements for verifying my name?

To get verified, you need:

- A registered phone number linked to your UPI, which is tied to your bank account, or DigiLocker.

- A Truecaller Premium/ Gold subscription.

5. Do I need to be a Premium user to keep my verified name badge?

Yes, only Premium users have access to this feature. If you stop being Premium, you will lose your verified name badge.

6. Will current verified name badges be affected?

Yes, all current verified names badges will be removed. The only way to get verified going forward will be through the new user initiated verification flow. 

7. What name will be displayed after verification?

The name retrieved from UPI will be displayed. You can choose how the name is ordered (e.g. first name first or last name first).

 

8. Will Truecaller be able to give me a verified badge if i ask for it? 

Nope, the whole point of this is that you verify yourself in order to get the badge.

I am a premium user .. have joined the BETA channel as well.. installed latest beta app. Now i can see get verified option. But the problem is that it is verifying only via Aadhar . I m not able to see verify via UPI option.

Hi, welcome to the beta and thanks for trying out the feature.

 

The reason why you are seeing the Digilocker/Aadhaar flow is because we were testing it as a possible option for verifying. The UPI verification method will be the primary method and Digilocker/Aadhaar is our backup. If something would happen to the UPI flow where users are not able to verify we will be able to switch to our secondary verification method and still provide the verification service to our users. 

 

Being part of the beta means that sometimes we will try out new things and that the experience you get may differ from how it will end up in production., but its a part of the process in order to deliver high quality software. 

 

Anyways we have switched back to using UPI now, so if you have not verified - give it a try !
