Apple is anticipated to launch the series in September 2025, with rumors hinting at the debut of a new "iPhone 17 Air" model alongside the standard iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro. The iPhone 17 Air is expected to replace the iPhone 17 Plus, bringing a host of new features and design changes.

Thinnest iPhone Yet

According to a report from The Information, the iPhone 17 Air will be Apple's slimmest iPhone ever, with a prototype measuring between 5mm and 6mm in thickness. For comparison, the iPhone 16 standard models are 7.8mm thick, and the iPhone 16 Pro models measure 8.25mm.

eSIM-Only Design

The iPhone 17 Air will forgo a physical SIM card tray, relying entirely on eSIM technology. While this approach has been standard for U.S. iPhones since the iPhone 14, models sold internationally still include SIM card trays. The iPhone 17 Air may mark a broader push toward eSIM exclusivity.

Single Speaker
