Hi TrueTalks Community,

If you are an avid online shopper, you should be aware of the latest addition to the hall of scams, the India Post Delivery Scam. Scammers are now targeting individuals by sending messages posing as India Post representatives.

Journey of the Scam from Start to Finish

Scammers send an SMS claiming to be from India Post, stating that a package couldn't be delivered due to incomplete address information. Often followed by a call, recipients are urged to click a link (http://iydc[.]in/u/5c0c5939f) to update their address within 12-48 hours.

Worried recipients click the link to resolve the issue. Once clicked, the link may run hidden scripts in the background to gather personal information. Sometimes, the website might also attempt to infect the device with malware or exploit security vulnerabilities.

  • Never share personal details, like house address, bank account details, PAN and Aadhaar details, UPI ID & PIN, and passwords.
  • If you're unsure, call the official number to verify the legitimacy of the message.

Ways to Report the Scam

  • Start by contacting your bank’s customer service to report the incident.
  • Visit your nearest police station to file a complaint, explaining everything that happened.
  • Take along documents like bank statements, copies of SMS, or emails received.

Identifying someone you know is about to call. Thanks to Truecaller’s Call Alerts feature, you won’t be the person everyone dreads at the cinema.

      How do Call Alerts Work?

With the Call Alert feature, you can set your phone to silent if you want to ignore a call or move to a quieter place if you need to answer it. This feature uses Data/Wi-Fi to securely send an alert from the caller's phone to yours as soon as the call is made. Available only on Android.

Steps to Enable Call Alerts On Android:
Head over to the Truecaller app Go to Call Settings Under notifications Toggle on Call alert notifications

      For IOS:
Enable push notifications for Truecaller on your iOS device settings to use Call Alert:
Go to Settings > Notifications > Truecaller > Toggle on the Sounds and Badges.

Note: Call alerts only work for calls from Android devices with Truecaller installed. Calls from iOS devices won't trigger a Call alert.

      Fun Facts About this Feature
Call alerts work only when a Truecaller user calls you. As Data/Wi-Fi is faster than a regular cellular network, the notification reaches you first, before an actual call comes through. Call alerts would require notification permission to work seamlessly on the app. Download Truecaller: https://tc.onelink.me/571208033/1fqyddvr
