How the Scam Works?
Puppy scams work like a usual online fraud. Scammers attract buyers with convincing websites, like jamesdachshundpuppies.com or Sunsetpuppiescenter.com, showcasing adorable puppies and offering them at reasonable prices. They use stolen images and send fake documents to deceive buyers.

When you try to pay, scammers might claim your credit card was declined while stealing your info. They’ll then push for payment via Zelle, PayPal, or gift cards.

How to Protect Yourself:

1. Meet in Person or Video Call: Always meet the pet in person or request a live video call to verify the animal and the breeder.
2. Reverse Image Search: Check if the pet’s photos appear on multiple websites to spot potential scams. Also, search for any copied text from ads or testimonials.
3. Avoid Risky Payments: Don’t wire money or use cash apps or gift cards, as these offer no recovery options if scammed.
4. Watch for Deals That Seem Too Good: Be wary of offers for free or heavily discounted purebred dogs.

6. Use Truecaller: If a number is listed on the website or you receive a message with a suspicious link. Always verify the number by searching for it on the Truecaller app or website.
